Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has left the country to take part in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he will play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Shakib flew from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to Kolkata on a US Bangla Airlines flight at 9.45 am on Saturday.
He will join the team after completing the quarantine formality there.
Shakib took leave to play in IPL instead of the Test series against Sri Lanka which will be held at the same time.
KKR bought Shakib for Rs 3.2cr in the IPL auction last month. They have already begun quarantine in Mumbai ahead of their training camp for IPL 2021 in Kolkata.
This year, IPL is scheduled to take place in April 9 and Kolkata will play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11 in Chennai.
