Shakib Al Hasan surprised everyone when he came on to open for Gemcon Khulna against Gazi Group Chattogram today. His innings didn't last long, but in his short stay he reached a milestone.
The ace all-rounder completed his 5000 runs in T20 cricket, being only the second Bangladeshi to do so. Tamim Iqbal was the first. Shakib is the 65th batsman in to reach the milestone.
The southpaw remains the only third cricketer in whole world to score more than 5000 T20 runs with bat and take 300 wickets with ball in hand. Windies all-rounders Andre Russel and Dwayne Bravo are the other two in this category. Shakib currently has 355 T20 wickets in his bag.
Shakib reached the milestone when he took his third run today. He got out for 3 off 7 balls exactly after reaching the milestone.
