1,200 jobless poor get free Sena Bazaar facilities, medical services
In addition to free food, medical services and medicines were also provided for 200 patients
Sena Bazaar and Free Medical Campaign were organized on Friday to help meet the demand of daily necessities and raw materials of helpless people who became unemployed due to Covid-19 in Cox's Bazar.
Under the supervision of the 10th Infantry Division of the Army, 1000 families collected rice, flour, oil, salt, pulses and various vegetables from the market from 10:30am to 11:00am on the day, maintaining social distance in 30 minutes.
In addition to free food, medical services and medicines were also provided for 200 patients.
Major Tanjil, media coordinator of the Ramu 10 Infantry Division, said that due to shutdown and recent cyclone Amphan, marginal farmers in the region could not sell their produce at the market. As a result, helpless people as well as farmers were benefited by getting a fair price for their vegetables at the market.
On Friday morning at the Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar, under the overall management of the army, disinfection booths and hand washing were set up at the entrance of the market. The needy people collected their necessaries completely free of cost.
Abdu Rahim, a hotel employee in Kalatali, said he had to borrow money due to crisis. He was having a hard time and was now very happy after getting the daily necessities including rice, potato, barbati, kachu lati, green chilli from the Sena Bazar.
Another hotel employee Liaqat Jana had been suffering from pain in the ear for the past one week. "I got free medicine by showing a specialist doctor in the army's medical campaign. This activity of the army has given an opportunity to the helpless to enjoy Eid," he said.
According to Ramu Cantonment sources, the overall direction of the Prime Minister will be continued under the supervision of Ramu Cantonment with the aim of making life easier for the helpless and marginalized people.
Such markets will also be organized at the upazila level in the near future. Officers and army personnel of Ramu Cantonment were present at the event which was completely unpretentious and exceptional.
