Two onion importers jailed for concealing imports in Chattogram
They also failed to show the buying and selling records of onion
A mobile court on Tuesday sentenced two onion importers to 15 days in jail on charge of concealing information on the imports of onion from Myanmar.
Executive Magistrate of Chattogram district administration Towhidul Islam handed downed the verdict under the Control of Essential Commodities Act, 1956.
The convicts were owner of JS Traders Minhaz Uddin Bappy and owner of Hossain Traders Abul Hossain.
They also failed to show the buying and selling records of onion.
At noon, a team led by Towhidul Islam conducted a drive at the shops in Nupur marker near the city's Station Road.
