Tata Motors on Wednesday launched its highly awaited premium hatchback, Altroz XE model with a base price tag at ₹5.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The automobile giant also facelifted Nexon, Tiago and Tigor.
Just a week earlier, Altroz had secured a perfect 5-star rating at the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) crash tests. Tata Altroz is country's second Made-in-India car to have secured a perfect five after the Tata Nexon.
The Altroz will be offered with two BS6-compliant engine options, a 1.2-litre petrol motor which produces 86hp and 113Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine which makes 90hp and 200Nm of torque. Both the versions will be available with a five-speed manual transmission. The company is also working on dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which will up for sale in the second half of 2020.
The Tata Altroz will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz among others which are priced between ₹5.45 lakh and ₹9.34 lakh(ex-showroom Delhi).
Inspired by the albatross, the Altroz will be the first product to be engineered on Tata Motors' new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture.
