Stocks jump at opening amid trade optimism

DSEX advanced 36 points or 0.74% to reach at 4938 and CASPI reported an increase of 72 points or 0.52% to close at 14,104 till 11:30 am

Equity indices of the stock exchanges witnessed an upward shift during the first-one-and-half-hour trading session on Tuesday.

DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) advanced 36 points or 0.74% to reach at 4938 till 11:30 am.

Moreover, the Shariah-based DSES index rose by 4.5 points to 1,119 and the blue-chip index DS30 gained 11.8 points to 1,702.

Turnover, a major market indicator, on the DSE trading floor has risen to Tk405.35 crore in the corresponding period.

Out of the 351 issues traded during the same time frame, DSE had 206 gainers against 75 losers, while prices of 70 scrips remained unchanged.

Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited was the most traded stock till filing of this report with shares worth Tk22.86 crore changing hands, closely followed Peoples Insurance Company Limited, BRAC Bank Limited, Continental Insurance Limited, Rupali Insurance Company Limited, and SS Steel limited.

Meanwhile, the benchmark index CASPI at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) reported an increase of 72 points or 0.52% to close at 14,104 till 11:30 am.

Of the total 187 issues traded till then, 110 gained, 36 declined, and 41 issues remained unchanged with Tk10 crore in turnover.
