Bankers to get priority too for Covid vaccine
The Bangladesh Bank advised bankers to register their names for vaccination against Covid-19.
In a directive sent to the managing directors of banks, it said their employees would have to complete the registration process on a dedicated web link to get the jab on a priority basis. Attached with the directive was a registration guide.
Alongside doctors, health workers, law enforcers and people working for the media, bankers were labelled as frontline workers by the health ministry. Therefore, they can also register their names using the web link dedicated for frontline workers.
Earlier, the Financial Institutions Department wrote a letter to the central bank asking for a list of bankers to be vaccinated. Banks instructed by the BB then sent lists of their officials to the Financial Institutions Department.
In another directive issued on Thursday, the BB said bank branches would remain shut during the municipal elections. Bank officials, who are voters of the constituencies, should be given the opportunity to cast votes, it said.
