Kabir Steel Re-rolling Mills (KSRM) employees have donated Tk30 lakh from their salaries to the relief fund of Chattogram district administration to help people hit by the coronavirus crisis.
In a programme on Sunday, the company's General Manager (human resource and admin) Syed Nazrul Alam, on behalf of the employees, handed over a symbolic cheque of Tk30 lakh to Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Elius Hossain.
Thanking KSRM, Elius said the company had always offered assistance during this critical period of the country.
He said other wealthy people of the society should similarly come forward to help others.
We will remember the generosity of KSRM employees, said Elius.
He also said the money would be distributed as relief in different areas of Chattogram.
KSRM General Manager Nazrul said the money was donated to help people in distress.
We realised the misery of the commoners and offered help from a humanitarian perspective, he said.
This is just a small effort on our part, Nazrul said.
"We tried to strengthen and expand the efforts of the district administration by donating a portion of our salaries. We are happy and proud to offer our assistance for the welfare of the helpless people."
Chattogram Nezarat Deputy Collector Md Masud Rana, Executive Magistrate Masudur Rahman, KSRM Media Adviser Mizanul Islam and Latifa Runa were present at the programme among others.
