A total of 178 Russian nationals those were stranded here due to COVID-19 pandemic left here for Russia Monday evening by a special chartered flight.

"178 Russian citizens departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) for Russia at 6 pm by a chartered flight," HSIA Director Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan told media.

He said the chartered flight, operated by a Boeing 763 aircraft of a local Russian airlines, will arrive at Nizhny Novgorod, a city near to the Russian capital of Moscow.

Earlier, nationals from the USA, Japan, Malaysia and Bhutan also left here by chartered flights amid outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.
