Ali Asgar had been suffering from brain disease for a long time
Prominent science fiction writer, scientist and organiser Professor Mohammad Ali Asgar passed away on Thursday at the age of 80.
He breathed his last at United Hospital in Dhaka.
Ali Asgar had been suffering from brain disease for a long time, said his son Arif Asgar, reports Prothom Alo.
He left behind his wife, two sons and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.
Arif said his father had a sudden heart attack early Thursday and later he died in the hospital.
According to family sources, the funeral prayer of Ali Asgar was held in front of a cemetery mosque at Uttara Sector-4 after Asr prayers. Later, he was buried at the cemetery.
Professor Ali Asgar was the head of the department of medical physics and biomedical engineering at Gono Bishwabidyalay. Prior to that, he was also a professor of physics at the Bangladesh university of engineering and technology and the dean of the faculty of engineering there.
