Housewife’s body recovered in Cox’s Bazar
"Roksana and Jashimuddin had a love affair and the duo got married in early 2018"
Police on Monday recovered the body of a housewife from her in-laws' house in Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila.
The deceased is Roksana Akter, wife of Jashimuddin in Jhilangza union of the upazila.
Roksana's father Dulal alleged that Jashimuddin along with his family members had killed his daughter.
Roksana and Jashimuddin had a love affair and the duo got married in early 2018.
But Jashimuddin's family did not accept Roksana as daughter-in-law then, said Dulal.
In the meantime, Roksana gave birth to a son this year. Since then, her relation with Jashimuddin's family turned out to be something normal.
But Jashimuddin got addicted to drugs and the couple used to quarrel on trifling matters.
Dulal alleged that Jashimuddin used to beat his daughter, prompting her to file a case against Jashimuddin.
Infuriated, Jashimuddin might have killed Roksana, Dulal added, claiming that her daughter's body bore marks of torture.
Khairuzzaman, inspector (investigation) at Cox's Bazar Sadar police station, said police recovered the body with a scarf wrapped around the neck.
Police are investigating if she was killed, he added.
