The government is taking the development projects forward prioritising the farmers of the country, said the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today at the 10th council of Krishak League at Suhrawardy Udyan. 

"No one is allowed to establish factories by destroying farming lands," she added.  

She said her government provides the farmers with loan at lower interest for purchasing farming equipment without any hassle. 

The government has been providing more two crore farmers with subsidy of Tk65, 571 crore in the last 11 years. 

The government is trying to bring the agricultural sector under automation in every union. For this, the government has established 5,275 digital centres across the country. Farmers from any corner of the country can get access to information by going to the centres or by simply calling at 16123.

The government has also set up research institutions for inventing new species of crops. Around 584 high-yielding paddy have been invented so far.

A number of projects has been taken by the government for the betterment of farmers considering the climate of the country. 

The Prime Minister said over one crore farmers have opened bank accounts at Tk10.  

Under the initiatives of "Our house, our farms" project, the government is offering incentives, loans and multipurpose cooperation to the farmers to help them market the crops. 

"20 percent incentives were given on electricity so that farmers can use it during in irrigation," said the prime minister.  

The government is also planning to introduce farming insurance so that farmers of remote areas can recover the loss from natural calamities.
