Eskaton fire: Man succumbs to burn injuries after wife, son

After losing his wife and son, a man named - Shahidul Kirmani - now succumbed to the burn injuries sustained from the fire at a 5-storey building in New Eskaton of the capital.

Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery's Chief Coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen said, "Kirmani was under treatment in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He suffered 43 percent burns including his respiratory area."

"He died around 6:30am Monday," he added.

With Shahidul, the death toll rises to five in that fire incident.

Earlier on February 27, a fire broke out at the garage of a building at New Eskaton's Dilu road.  Three people including Shahidul's son Rushdi died at the incident and his wife among few were injured.  

Shahidul's wife Zannatul suffered 95 percent burn in the fire. She died on March 1.
