BUP observes International Mother Language Day
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) observed the Martyr's Day and International Mother Language Day on Sunday and paid solemn tribute to the martyrs of the language movement.
Marking the day, a delegation of BUP brought out a procession and gathered at the Central Shaheed Minar to place floral wreaths, said a media statement.
This year, the ceremony was held at limited scale due to global pandemic situation, the press statement read.
Besides, the BUP Literature and Drama Club organised a virtual meeting where the contribution of martyrs during the language movement in 1952 was discussed.
The university's Vice Chancellor Major General Md Moshfequr Rahman attended the event as the chief guest.
At the beginning of his speech, Md Moshfequr Rahman paid homage to the sacrifices of the martyrs of the language movement.
Among others, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor M Abul Kashem Mozumder, faculty members, officials and students joined the online programme.
