Brahmanbaria journalists boycott Hefazat
Journalists in Brahmanbaria on Tuesday announced to boycott any news related to Hefazat-e-Islam and its affiliated organisations in protest of the vandalism in Brahmanbaria Press Club and attack on journalists during the Sunday strike.
The announcement came at a protest rally condemning the rampage of the Hefazat activists in the district during the strike. They also demanded a judicial inquiry into the violence.
Journalists took out a procession from the Brahmanbaria Press Club premises around 11:30 am and circled the city's main road (TA Road).
The speakers condemned the attack on the Brahmanbaria Press Club building and the journalists including the president of the club, saying that there had never been an attack on the press club during any movement in the past.
Brahmanbaria Press Club Senior Vice-president Piyush Kanti Acharya presided over the rally while General Secretary of Brahmanbaria Press Club Jabed Rahim Bijan, Vice President Ibrahim Khan Sadat and President of Television Journalists Association Manjurul Alam gave speeches alongside other local journalists.
