Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz became the father of a baby boy at a hospital in Dhaka at around 10 am today.

Miraz announced the arrival of the newborn on his official Facebook page. "Alhamdulillah, I am happy to announce that I became the father of a son at around 10 am today. Everyone please pray for my first child. All praise is due to Allah," Miraz posted.

Miraz tied the knot with his beloved wife Rabeya Priti in March last year.

Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed congratulated the new father and prayed for a healthy life for the newborn.

He took two weeks off to be with his expectant wife. But, it is understood that he will be playing in the BCB President's Cup starting from tomorrow. The tournament will kick-off with his side Mahmudullah XI facing Najmul XI in the opening fixture at Mirpur.
