A High Court bench today suggested BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to submit her bail petition to a bench led by a senior justice.
The High Court bench of justices Farid Ahmed and ASM Abdul Mobin sent back Khaleda's bail plea in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.
Khaleda had submitted the petition on September 3 – for the second time in the corruption case.
She has been jailed for seven years in the case.
In the petition, Khaleda said she was seriously ill and was now hospitalised as she had been suffering from various health complications.
Khaleda, 74, urged the High Court to consider her bail also on grounds of her age and her status as the chief of the BNP.
On August 8, 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case with Tejgaon police station.
On October 29, 2018, a special court in Dhaka convicted Khaleda in the case and sentenced her to seven years' imprisonment in her absence.
