Dhaka North councillor Razib put on fresh remand
A Dhaka court placed Dhaka North City Corporation Councillor (Mohammadpur) Tarequzzaman Razib on 4-day fresh remand today in narcotics and arms cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari granted the remand when Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Sub inspector Pranay Kumar placed him before the court with remand plea.
On October 19, RAB arrested Razib from capital's Bashundhara Residential area for his alleged involvement in extortion, terrorism and land grabbing.
Two cases under the arms act and the narcotics control act were filed with Vatara Police Station.
On October 21, a Dhaka court placed Razib, on a 14-day remand in two separate cases.
According to local people, Razib exerted his political power to control satellite and drugs business in Mohammadpur.
