Helpless retired Japanese and South Korean people
In South Korea, over 40% of the total population aged over 65 live below the poverty line. In Japan, this rate is 20%. Despite both countries having universal pension schemes, meeting the demands of this large demographic is not sufficient. Moreover, gradually escalating expenses in pension schemes are straining the budgets of both countries' governments.
