Ever found yourself scrolling through Instagram stories your friends or celebrities posted that contain copyrighted music and the sound is blocked off?

The screen would flash a message which would repeatedly say, "Instagram Music isn't available in your region".

This feature, Instagram Music, on the popular photo and video sharing social networking service was launched back in 2018. However, it remained a distant feature for us Bangladesh-dwellers.

Using "VPN" is one option that had been available to users who wanted to use Instagram Music; albeit, it is also a service that is not legal in our country.

Music-streaming apps have been unavailable in the country until recent years, with the launching of Spotify in Bangladesh.

Local musicians and artists now have an increasing plethora of platforms to release their music onto the virtual world.

Now with Instagram Music, we have the opportunity to add our favourite artists' songs to our stories, letting everyone know our favourite jam of the day.

With the launching of Instagram Music, Bangladeshis can finally express their moods via songs available under the feature.

How to use Instagram Music?

Open the Instagram app on your device.

Either swipe right or press the +add story icon on the top-left of the screen.

Capture a photo/video from the app's default camera or upload one from your gallery.

Click on the sticker icon at the top right of the screen or simply swipe up to find a list of items to add to your story.

Locate the "music" icon and search for your favourite song/artist.

You can also browse through the categories based on occasions, genres, and moods.

Now, customise however you want to add the music.

Music snippets range from 5-15 seconds. However, you can choose the time from which you want the music to be used.

This feature also displays on-screen lyrics that is synchronised with the music, making it useful for us who want to sing-along while the story plays.

You can also tweak the size and the font style for the song lyrics, a feature to which we are already accustomed with.

Voila, you have your first story featuring Instagram Music.

Now, let the world know how you are feeling with their auditory perception!
