The World Investor Week 2019 has kicked off today with a call for protection of investors against securities fraud, price manipulation, misreporting, and insider trading.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) is observing the week in cooperation with capital market stakeholders.
BSEC Chairman Dr M Khairul Hossain inaugurated the event at the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission building in the capital.
Dr Khairul said all necessary steps would be taken to uphold investors' rights.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal joined the opening ceremony through video conference. He said, "A number of state-owned companies will be listed soon and the government will take all measures to boost the capital market."
BSEC officials also launched a web platform named "Customer complaint address module", which investors can use to file complaints to the commission online.
The seven-day programme ending on October 6 will feature seminars and workshops.
