Three girls have reportedly been raped in Gaibandha, Khulna and Sylhet while a university student has been arrested in Khulna for violating another girl on a false promise of marriage.

In Gaibandha, a policeman has allegedly violated a college girl at Barboldia village in Sadar upazila promising to marry her.

The accused was identified as Abu Bakar Siddique, a constable posted in Rangpur.

Police said Bakar had long been in love with the victim, 19.

On August 13, he took the girl to a bamboo bush and raped her there after tying her legs and hands with the help of his friend Aminul.

Hearing her screams, locals rescued the girl and took her to a hospital, but the rapist fled the scene.

The victim filed a case with Sadar Police Station on Thursday night.

In Khulna, a seven-year-old girl was raped by an unknown youth at Tutpara Mahirbari Khalpara in the city on Friday morning.

Victim’s family said the child was playing in front of her house when the youth picked her up, took her to a lonely place and violated her.

Her mother said they were looking for the child and found her in an empty house while the rapist already fled.

The victim who was bleeding profusely informed the matter to her parents. She was later taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Ehsan Shah said their special team has launched a drive identify the rapist and arrest him.

In another incident, police arrested a private university student on Thursday night for violating a girl on the promise of marriage at Mujgunni in the city.

The arrestee is Sinjon Roy, 25, son of Prashanta Kumar Roy of Sonadanga area.

Mamtazul Haq, officer-in-charge of Sonadanga Model Police Station, said Sinjon, an LLB student of North Western University, developed physical relations with the victim, a university student, with a false promise of marriage.

On Thursday night, the girl came to know that Sinjon is going to marry another girl.

When the girl went to meet Sinjon in Mujgunni area, he tried to abduct her.

Noticing the incident, locals informed police about it. Later, law enforcers rushed in and arrested Sinjon.

In Sylhet, a tenth grader was raped by a youth at Kurar Bazar in Beanibazar upazila on Thursday noon.

Victim’s elder sister said Mizan, 23, entered their house and violated her sister, 14, when she was alone there.

They found her bleeding and took her to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Aboni Shankar Kar, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station, said legal action would be taken once they received a complaint.
