Jashore gang rape: Three put on remand
Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court extended the deadline by seven days for submission of the probe report by police

A Jashore court on Sunday placed three accused on a three-day remand in a case over gang rape of a womanin Sharsha upazila ofthe district.
Judge Saifuddin Hossain of the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court also extended the deadline by seven days for submission of the probe report by a committee formed by the police.
The accused put on remand are Kamruzzaman alias Kamrul of Chatokapota village, Abdul Latif and Abdul Quader of Lakkhanpur village.
The prosecutors had prayed for five days' remand.
Sheikh Monayem Hossain, inspector (investigation) of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Jashore who is investigating the case, said DNA samplesof the accused would be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department for test after remand.
He said the police were investigating to identify the prime accused of the case.
On September 2, a woman was gang-raped allegedly by Sub-Inspector Khairul Alam, in-charge of Gorpara police camp, and his informant Kamrul and twoothers as she refused to pay Tk 50,000 as bribe.
The woman filed a case with the Sharsha police stationon September 3.
Kamrul, Abdul Latif, and Abdul Quader were named in the case, butSI Khairul's name was not included.
The Police Headquarters handed over the case to Jashore Police Bureau of Investigation on September 5.
The incident came to light on September 3 when medical tests at Jashore General Hospital showed evidence of rape.
Meanwhile, M Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sharshapolice station,was suspended and attached to Jashore Police Lines for negligence in duty.
Earlier on September 4, alleged prime accused Sub-Inspector Khairul Islam was also suspended andclosed to the Police Lines.
