Independent power generators form new committee
They also meet state minister Nasrul Hamid Bipu and talked about power generation related issues
The Bangladesh Independent Power Producers' Association has formed its 12-member new committee. Imran Karim, Vice-Chairman of Confidence Group, was picked up as the president.
The new committee met the state minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu on Wednesday. The private power generators discussed different issues with the state minister.
Nasrul Hamid stated the current prospect of the country's power sector with the representatives.
Seeking their support to implement the government's vision, Bipu said, "It is possible to solve any problem through a united effort."
He hoped that the association will modernise the existing power policy and guidelines.
Currently, there are 50 members in the association who have their own power generating units. The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has been purchasing power from them as the lone buyer.
