In order to fulfill one of his election promises, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam is going to directly interact with the people though Facebook Live.

Prior to becoming the city mayor, Atiqul promised to listen to the people and develop the city according to their needs and opinions.

Now he will attend a one-hour Facebook Live programme on Tuesday (December 1) from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, says a DNCC press release.

People can directly talk to the mayor in the live programme on the DNCC's official FB page facebook.com/dncc.gov.bd and the mayor's official page facebook.com/atiqfordhaka using the hashtag #janatar_mukhomukhi_nagarsebak.

"I would directly communicate with the people to ensure transparency, accountability and people's participation in urban planning and management," said Atiqul Islam.

During this time, the mayor will discuss various problems of the city, ways to solve them, and seek people's opinion about the planning and management of different issues of the city.

Film actor Ferdous will moderate the live question and answer programme.

Besides posting questions, comments and opinions at the live event, city dwellers can place their questions in advance at the comment section of posts about this programme on the DNCC and Atiqul's FB pages.

Questions, comments and opinions should be written in the comment box by typing #janatar_mukhomukhi_nagarsebak.

The one-hour live show would be divided into three parts. In the first part, the mayor would inform the people about his various plans centring the city development; in the second part, he would answer the questions, and reply to comments and opinions of the people. And in the last part, journalists will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Atiqul Islam said the goal of this programme is – "Together, will build a healthy, vibrant and modern Dhaka for all."
