Shah Alam, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) inspector and also the investigation officer (IO) of Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case, gave his deposition before a Feni court on Sunday.
Placing argument before the court would start after the completion of recording Alam’s deposition, said plaintiff’s lawyer Shahjahan Saju.
The Women and Children’s Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mamunur Rashid began the recording of Alam’s deposition on Thursday, which would continue till Monday, said Public Prosecutor Hafez Ahmed.
So far, a total of 87 people’s depositions have been recorded. Besides, five people submitted documents without being present physically before the court.
According to the case details, SM Siraj Ud Daula, principal of Feni’s Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, sexually harassed Nusrat, an Alim examinee, in his office on March 27.
The student’s mother filed a case in this connection the next day.
On April 6, Nusrat was set afire as she refused to withdraw the case.
A group of people loyal to the principal set her on fire on the rooftop of the madrasa’s administration building just before sitting for the Alim examinations, which is equivalent to HSC.
She succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.
