Top order failed once again for Tamim XI before lower-middle order came to the rescue. After Rubel dominated the Tamim XI's top order, youngsters Yasir Ali and Mahidul Islam Ankon built a 111-run partnership for the fifth wicket to put on a somewhat commendable total on the board.
Mahmudullah XI will need 222 runs to win from their 50 overs to keep their hopes alive for the final.
Rubel's early domination
Rubel Hossain was in top form early in the innings. He sent three batsmen back to the pavilion before Tamim XI could even score 20 runs in their first batting powerplay.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Anamul Haque Bijoy and Mohammad Mithun were his scalps. He eventually ended up taking 4 wickets for 34 runs from his 10 overs including 3 maiden overs.
Apart from Rubel, Abu Haider Rony and Ebadat Hossain were among the wickets. Ebadat took 2 and Rony only picked up the skipper Tamim Iqbal.
Yasir Ali and Mahidul Ankon repaired the damage
The top order of Tamim XI failed miserably again today. The Tamims were much hyped before the start of the tournament, but they haven't done any justice to their hypes.
Junior Tamim was the first to go falling prey to Rubel at slip. The experienced trio - Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque Bijoy and Mohammad Mithun went back soon without showing any sort of resilience to the pace attack.
Tamim XI were 4 down for 17 at one point. Another 103-esque total was raging at them. But youngsters Yasir Ali Rabbi and Mahidul Islam Ankon came to the rescue.
These two build a partnership of 111 runs for the fifth wicket. They both scored fifties. Yasir Rabbi scored 62 off 81 balls at a strike rate of 76.51 before getting run out. Ankon however was a bit slow. He bagged 57 runs off 110 balls which included 3-fours and 2-sixes.
Late flourish to put on a commendable total
Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Saifuddin put on 75 runs together in the last 10 overs to put Tamim XI to a commendable position.
They managed to add 77 runs from their last 10 overs losing both Saikat and Saifuddin in the last over. Both of them had a 100+ strike rate.
Mosaddek Hossain Saikat scored 40 off 39 balls with 3-fours and one maximum while Saifuddin were more destructive adding 38 of 29 with 4-fours and one maximum.
This is Mahmudullah XI's last chance to keep their hope alive for the final while Tamim XI will have another chance for the spot even if they fail to defend the total. A win here for Tamim XI will mean both Najmul XI and Tamim XI cement their position in the final.
Rain halted the proceeding as it started pouring down right after the innings of Tamim XI.
