Before the coronavirus pandemic started, actor Arifin Shuvoo spent his time in shooting and dubbing for films. But now he is stuck home like everyone else. Is he also going through stress like the rest of the populace?

The Business Standard reached out to this celebrity to know more.

TBS: In this time of a nationwide shutdown, how are you spending your time?

Arifin Shuvoo: I am doing lots of things. You can say I have become completely domestic! We had to send all our assistants home, so now my wife and I have divided the household chores between ourselves. I have been tasked with making the bed. A few days ago, I cleaned all the ceiling fans in the house. And then there are various other works that need to be done.

TBS: What are you doing in your leisure?

Arifin Shuvoo: The rest of my time is dedicated to Netflix. I am watching lots of new series and movies, including Money Heist, Hasmukh and Fluid. This aside, I have registered with an online school where I can take different courses for the next one year.

TBS: Have you given up on gym and diet?

Arifin Shuvoo: Without a doubt! I cannot go to a gym, so just doing some exercises at home. Dieting is totally off! The thing is, when you are home, you get hungry a lot. I do not know if it happens to everyone, but it is definitely happening to me. I had to control my food intake in order to stay in shape, but now I am overeating and eating just whatever there is in front of me. I do not know when I will go back to being fit.

TBS: In this crisis period, are you feeling any extra stress?

Arifin Shuvoo: I was very anxious the first 10 days, continuously stressing about what was going to happen. Afterwards, I think I got used to the situation. However, few days ago, when my blood pressure dropped, I spoke to a doctor friend of mine who said it happened due to panic disorder. I am not thinking about the crisis much. I have decided to trust on the Almighty, whatever He thinks is best will happen. My friend said, stressful thoughts may arise even in our subconscious mind and that is why we get panicked. But I am doing quite well now.

TBS: We remember you had quite a few films being shot?

Arifin Shuvoo: Yes I had quite a few shootings. There were also discussions about some new films. We had some dubbings pending. Now all the plans are cancelled.

TBS: The shooting for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's biopic "Bangabandhu" also got postponed. When might it resume?

Arifin Shuvoo: I cannot say anything about it. This matter is directly handled by the Prime Minister's Office, so I cannot speak on it.

TBS: A film called "Mission Extreme" was supposed to be released in time for Eid. Any chances of that happening?

Arifin Shuvoo: Yes, it was scheduled for Eid but I have not heard anything about it yet. The production house did not give any updates. But I can say that in the current situation, it would be best to change the schedule. Right now people are not in the mood to watch movies. When things become better, they could reconsider the release.

TBS: This shutdown situation might change the whole entertainment industry. What is your take on it?

Arifin Shuvoo: I do want everything to change. If needed, everything can be started all over again. The industry was in a very precarious state, it was bound to fall apart sooner or later. Let me give you one example. There is a cinema hall in my hometown Mymensingh where no sane person can go to watch a movie because the environment is so bad. This is the norm in a lot of towns. Why would people go to cinema halls with bad environments? This is why I want everything to start anew.

TBS: Do you have any message for your fans?

Arifin Shuvoo: I am regular uploading videos on my social media accounts to spread awareness among my fans. But I would still request them to stay home and stay safe.

I have been hearing that the nature is trying to heal itself, it is good news. But when I heard that some dolphins at the Cox's Bazar beach were beaten to death, I got very upset. If we keep being cruel to nature like this, then evidently nature would take revenge on us. This is why my request to everyone is to do whatever they can to preserve the natural balance, please.
