Bangladesh to hoist great danger signal 10 from Wednesday morning
Bangladesh will start hoisting the great danger signal number 10 from Wednesday 6am as the cyclone may cross the country on the same day.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Enamur Rahman said this during a virtual briefing on Tuesday.
"The government already took the highest preparation and evacuated the people of the coastal area and took them to shelter," he said. The state minister, however, couldn't confirm the number of people who went to safety.
"As we are role model in facing national disasters, we are ready to face it with a minimum loss from it," he added.
Adding that the cyclone Amphan is posing a dual challenge for Bangladesh, he further said that the challenge will be to maintain social distancing in the cyclone shelter centres.
