Orion Pharma wins SAFA award 2019

Orion Pharma Ltd has won the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) award 2019 in the best presented annual reports category.

In the manufacturing category, Orion Pharma became a joint winner.

According to SAFA, this award is for outstanding performance of organisations for striving to accomplish the highest standards of governance, compliances and disclosures of stakeholder information in their published reports.

SAFA is the association of the national Chartered Accountancy and Cost and Management Accountancy Institutions in the Saarc countries namely Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Afghanistan.

This is a distinctly glorious annual event of SAFA to promote transparency and accountability through the financial and non-financial disclosures in the published annual reports in Saarc countries.

This year, 101 companies from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka took part in this competition. Among them 19 Bangladeshi companies (listed and non-listed), nominated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), participated in the 11 sectors out of 13 categories.

Among the countries in the South Asian region, Bangladeshi entities scored top in eight categories of SAFA best presented annual reports 2019.

On Wednesday, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) organised the virtual SAFA Best Presented Annual Reports Award, the Integrated Reporting Award and the Saarc Anniversary Award for Corporate Governance Disclosures 2019 ceremony and handed over the awards.

In the manufacturer category, Orion Pharma Limited became joint winner, British American Tobacco Bangladesh became the first runner up and Summit Power Limited got certificate of merit.

Orion Pharma is one of the premier pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh which has been contributing to improving the human health care of the country by providing quality branded-generic pharmaceuticals. The company always believes in 'Quality never ends' and refuses to settle for anything until it exceeds the existing standard. It has been superseding the market growth consistently by a wide margin for the last few years.

The company has been awarded the ISO-9001: 2015 Certificate in 2018 for serving its valued customers with products of excellent quality.
