Japan has extended a grant worth approximately Tk7 million to Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal (BD) Ltd through its Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP).

In this respect, Ito Naoki, Japan's ambassador in Dhaka, signed grant contracts for the GGHSP with Rajiv Prasad Shaha, managing director of Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal (BD) Ltd, at the Embassy of Japan in the capital, said a media statement issued on Wednesday.

Kumudini Welfare Trust has been awarded the grant of approximately Tk7.19 million for the implementation of The Project for the Installation of a Central Oxygen Supply System at Kumudini Hospital in Tangail District.

Kumudini has been operating to ensure the health, socio-economic and welfare of poor and vulnerable women through its hospital, educational institutions and training facilities.

With the assistance of the GGHSP funding, Kumudini is due to procure and install medical oxygen storage pressure vessels as well as a gas pipeline that will ensure an adequate oxygen supply and adequate medical care to critically-ill patients and others at Kumudini Hospital.
