Woman flees Sylhet hospital after suspicion of corona infection
The woman, 70, returned from Saudi Arabia around 12 days ago
A Saudi returnee woman has fled from hospital after doctors suspected that she has been infected with coronavirus.
The incident took place at North East Medical College Hospital of the district on Tuesday.
A team from Sylhet civil surgeon office visited the residence of the woman and requested her for hospital admission. But she denied.
According to the hospital sources, the woman, 70, returned from Saudi Arabia around 12 days ago. She went to the hospital with fever on Tuesday morning.
Observing her physical symptoms, the doctors of emergency unit suspected that she was infected with coronavirus. They suggested her some tests and to get admitted immediately. But she left the hospital in the name of having the prescribed tests.
Sylhet Civil Surgeon Dr Premanando Mondol said, "After being informed, we visited her residence and suggested her not to get panicked.
"We requested her to get admitted to the Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed hospital's isolation unit. As she denied to do so, we suggested her to stay in self quarantine at home."
We will try to convince her for admission in hospital again on Wednesday, he said.
