Passport broker gang busted in Narayanganj

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested five passport brokers along with a large number of fake passports from Narayanganj's Regional Passport Office area.
The detainees are Monir Hossain, 35, Rashed, 32, Rifat, 20, Junayed Ahmed Jonny, 28 and Al Amin, 23.
"A drive led by Assistant Police Superintendent Harun-ar-Rashid under Special Superintendent of Police Mohammad detained them from Siddhirganj's Jalkuri area," Police Superintendent Harun-ur-Rashid said.

On the basis of various allegations, we conducted the drive around the passport office, he added.
"88 passports, 3 NID cards, 605 delivery papers of fake passports, ten fake seals of the first-class officers of various government offices, two computers, 18 application forms were seized during the drive," he added.
The information was confirmed in a press release sent from the District Branch of the CID this afternoon.
"An investigation into the case is underway. Police also investigating whether there are any government officials are involved with the passport brokerage circle," he added.
