Apparently there was no attribute of a violent killer in the young boy.
The teenager used to paint beautiful pictures and loved animals. His bedroom is decorated with the portraits he has made of his family members. These are only a few of his amazing qualities.
But deterioration in social values and a sense of insecurity forced him to commit the crime, he told police.
The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the youth on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Abdur Rob Pavel (22) – a juvenile gang member and drug addict based in Kawla area of the capital.
After interrogating the accused, police unravelled the murder mystery and learned about his unique murder plan. Due to legal obligations, his name cannot be published.
The teenager killed Pavel on February 22 in Kawla area under Airport police station. Pavel's mother Yasmin Begum filed a case on the same day.
Police said the accused teenager and Pavel used to live in the same building. Pavel used to sexually harass the boy's sisters, which the teenager always protested. Pavel and his gang members used to beat up the boy for this reason. When the youth could not take it anymore, he planned to kill Pavel.
However, opposing the arrested youth's account, Pavel's sister Tanzila said, "Some days ago, Pavel beat up the boy for he assaulted Pavel's younger brother. This might have led the teenager to kill Pavel in revenge."
She denied the allegation that Pavel ever harassed the arrested youth's sisters.
How the boy executed the murder plan
The creative boy carefully planned for several months to kill Pavel, when he built up a friendly relationship with the victim.
The young boy learned that Pavel was always in need of money as he was addicted to drugs. So, at around 10am on the day of the murder, the accused went to Pavel's room and told him that he saw a gold chain hanging from a date tree beside a graveyard.
As they were in a good relationship, Pavel went out with the boy without suspecting anything.
After arriving at the spot, Pavel did not find any gold chain. Then, the teenager made his second move and told Pavel that, "I think the chain fell off from the tree. Let's search for the chain on the ground."
The accused once again got lucky as Pavel fell to his tricks and Pavel bowed down to search for the gold chain on the ground. While Pavel was busy in searching for the chain, the accused stabbed him from behind twice with a kitchen knife.
When Pavel fell on the ground, the boy quickly hit Pavel's face with a brick. After that, he bathed in a pond beside the graveyard and returned home. After changing wet clothes quickly, he went to Airport police station to carry out the last part of his plan.
The boy reported to police that he saw Pavel was being beaten up by his fellow gang members beside the Kawla civil aviation graveyard. After that, the boy returned to his family and started acting normal as if nothing happened between him and Pavel.
Meanwhile, police rushed to the graveyard and recovered Pavel's body.
Kaisar Rezvy Koraishy, additional deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch in Airport zone, told The Business Standard yesterday, "The accused confessed his crime during the primary interrogation. Considering his age, we sent him to the juvenile court."
