The eight-team Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Football Tournament’2019 under the auspices of Chattogram Abahani Ltd will be held at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram on October 19-30.
The schedule for the 3rd edition of the tournament was finalised at a joint meeting of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Chattogram Abahani at the BFF House in the capital on Sunday.
MA Latif, MP, Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, MP, and Shakil Mahmud Chowdhury represented Chattogram Abahani while BFF president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin, its member Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir and general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag were present on behalf of BFF at the meeting.
Kolkata-based Indian teams Mohun Bagan AC and East Bengal FC, TC Sports of the Maldives, Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings, runners-up Dhaka Abahani Ltd, hosts Chattogram Abahani Limited along a leading club from Thailand and Malaysia each will compete in the meet.
If any of the teams from Thailand and Malaysia is not available, the organisers will go for Kolkata Mohammedan for the meet.
A high-profile committee was formed with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as its chief patron while the Organising Committee was constituted with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal as the chairman and State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell as co-chairman to run the tournament.
