BPL action resumes in Chattogram
These will be important games for all four sides concerned as three of them are on four points and vying for a spot in the playoffs.
After a day's break, the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League rolls on in Chattogram as Cumilla Warriors face Dhaka Platoon in the first match and then Khulna Tigers face Rajshahi Royals in the day's second match.
These will be important games for all four sides concerned as three of them are on four points and vying for a spot in the playoffs.
Cumilla Warriors vs Dhaka Platoon
Cumilla have had a mixed campaign so far with two wins and two losses from their four games so far and the same can be said of Dhaka who have also won two and lost two in their four games.
Both are fancied teams with no dearth in talent and have a lot of options to pick from.
It would be hard to call any side the favourite although Dhaka won their first encounter against Cumilla this season and Cumilla would be looking for revenge here in the return fixture.
For Cumilla, their captain Dasun Shanaka has been key with the bat while they have also had solid contributions from Dawid Malan.
The Sri Lankan Shanaka being chosen as captain was a call that many questioned but he answered those critics by scoring a blistering half-century in his first game to help his team win and so far has 124 runs from four innings with an awesome strike-rate of 206.66.
Malan, who has enjoyed good form with the bat for his national team England, has carried that on to the BPL as well and has scored 191 runs from four innings with an average of 63.66 and a strike-rate of 157.85.
With the ball, Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been Cumilla's top performer taking five wickets from four games with an impressive economy of just 5.2.
As for Dhaka, Tamim Iqbal and Thisara Perera have been their main performers with the bat and Perera has been vital with the ball too.
The left-handed Bangladeshi opener has shown a return to form after a long time away from cricket and has scored 110 runs from three games with an average of 36.66 and a strike-rate of 129.41.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder has scored 112 runs with an average of 56 and a strike-rate of 193.10 while he took five wickets with a strike-rate of just 13.2.
Khulna Tigers vs Rajshahi Royals
Khulna have looked one of the best and most in-form teams in the tournament so far before they were handed their first defeat by Sylhet Thunder in the last game.
They are on six points from four games with three wins and they face a Rajshahi Team that have looked dominant as well.
Rajshahi have so far played the least number of games – three – and have two wins and one loss and the side led by Andre Russell looks a strong one.
Rajshahi also have the likes of Shoaib Malik and Liton Das in the top order and they have both been among the runs.
The experienced Pakistan batsman Malik has scored 139 runs so far and has only been dismissed once, which gives him a whopping average of 139, added to that a very good strike-rate of 143.29.
Liton has scored 102 runs so far with an average of 51 and a very impressive strike-rate of 147.82, but the way he has thrown his wicket away after getting good starts will be a cause of concern for Rajshahi.
On the other hand, Khulna's main player has been the South African left-hander Rilee Rossouw and their captain Mushfiqur Rahim.
Rossouw has scored 224 runs so far with an awesome average of 112 and an equally impressive strike-rate of 164.
Their captain Mushfiqur Rahim has also been impressive with the bat as he scored 153 runs at a very good average of 76.5 and a strong strike-rate of 156.12.
