Government has awarded national film award to an Indian citizen violating the rules.

Md Kalam, the Indian national, won the best editor's award for the film "Dhaka Attack".

The government mentioned his name in the website of Ministry of Information on Thursday along with other winners of National Film Award 2017 and 2018.

In February, 2019, a gazette was published requesting application for the award. The gazette said, only Bangladeshi nationals will be considered for the award. Vice chairman of Bangladesh Film Censor Board Nizamul Kabir's signature was in it.
