Govt okays 64 parking spots in Dhaka: Quader
City passenger transportation system will be coordinated with the proposed modern bus terminals, he added
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on December 1, said that Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) has approved 64 parking spots, proposed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in the city to improve car parking facility.
"Besides, Dhaka city corporations are asked to construct bus bay along city roads and set up city forest at a smaller scale in city's convenient areas by evicting illegal establishments," he told reporters after the 13th board meeting of DTCA at Nagar Bhaban.
The road transport minister said the meeting decided to continue works of shifting all the city's inter-district bus terminals outside Dhaka with a view to easing its traffic congestion.

Noting that the government has decided to formulate a massive transportation plan for the commercially important Narayanganj City Corporation, Quader said a feasibility study is being carried out in this regard.
He said an initiative has been taken to construct the 40-kilometre Baliarpur- Fatullah- Langalbandh highway via Nimtoli-Keraniganj, following the long-term transportation plan taken for Dhaka and its outskirt areas.
Quader said the meeting also decided to constitute an experts' panel aiming to implement the activities and programmes of DTCA successfully.
Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon, Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Atiqul Huque, Narayanganj city mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, Narayanganj-2 lawmaker Nazrul Islam Babu, Gazipur mayor Md Jahangir Alam, Roads Transport and Highway Division secretary Md Nazrul Islam and Railways secretary Md Mofazzel Hossain, among others, were present at the meeting.
