A Khulna court has sentenced four people to death for murdering a madrasa student two years ago.

Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Moshiur Rahman Chowdhury passed the order at 11:45am on Wednesday.

The court also fined each convict Tk25,000.

The death row convicts are - Boni Amin Shikdar, 20, Rahim Sheikh, 21, Raju Shikdar, 20, and Nuhu Sheikh, 35.

Two other accused- Jashim Shikdar and Siraj Shikdar- in the case were acquitted as the crime was not proved against them.

Earlier, on September 20, 2018, police recovered the floating body of Musa Shikdar, 16, from a river in Rupsha upazila. The deceased's father Mustakin Shikdar filed a complaint in court on September 27 accusing the convicts.

The convicts confessed before the court that they killed Musa over a conflict regarding unpaid dues of Musa's grocery shop.

Expressing satisfaction, the deceased father Mustakin Shikdar said, "I want this judgment to take effect immediately so that no one commits a crime like murder."
