He said this at an open discussion meeting at Chattogram Shilpakala Academy auditorium organised by AL publicity and publication Sub-committee on “Journey of 70 years of glory: Awami League in the thoughts of youth.”
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday said that the country has become a role model of development in the world following the leadership of the Awami League (AL) government.
He said this at an open discussion meeting at Chattogram Shilpakala Academy auditorium organised by AL publicity and publication Sub-committee on “Journey of 70 years of glory: Awami League in the thoughts of youth.”
The minister said there was a lot of difference between proclamation of independence and reading out its announcement. The debate about the proclamation of independence began after the death of Ziaur Rahman.
But the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)’s founder never claimed himself about the pronouncement of independence during his life time.
He added that Sheikh Hasina who had been leading AL for the last 38 years assumed state power for the fourth time and established the country as a role model of development globally.
Political advisor to the Prime Minister, H T Imam said that Ziaur Rahman and Ershad were two sides of the same coin.
“Sheikh Hasina has taken position as a success statesman in the whole world following her leadership,” he also said.
