দেশে চা বাগান আছে ২৫৬টি। এর মধ্যে বাণিজ্যিক উৎপাদনে থাকা ১৬৮টিতে রয়েছে ১ লাখ ৩ হাজারের বেশি শ্রমিক। দেশে চা শিল্পের বিকাশও হচ্ছে ধারাবাহিকভাবে। তবে উন্নতি নেই শ্রমিকের জীবনমানে।
