Akbar Ali smashes ton in practice game

Akbar Ali, the captain of Bangladesh's World Cup-winning U-19 team, smashed a ton in the two-day intra-squad practice game of BCB's High Performance unit (HP) on Monday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Akbar failed to do well in the three-team 50-over competition last month. However, he proved his mettle hitting the ton in the practice match.

Riding on his ton, HP Team "A" ended their first innings posting 406 for 7 in 80 overs. Along with Akbar, Shahadat Hossain also did well accumulating 94 runs off 162 balls with 14 fours.

Akbar ended on 136 off 161 balls with 20 fours and two sixes. During his innings, Akbar posted a 120-run stand with Shamim Hossain.

Brief score:

HP Team A 406/7 in 80 overs, Akbar 136, Shahadat 94, Shamim 67, Tanzid 35, Mahmudul 30; Rezaur 2/63, Shahin 2/71, Shariful 2/102.
