Budget FY27 set to propose 'One Teacher, One Tab' programme, expansion of free Wi-Fi
The initiatives are expected to aim at ensuring a technology- and artificial intelligence-based education system
The government is likely to propose launching a "One Teacher, One Tab" programme alongside expanding free Wi-Fi facilities and setting up multimedia classrooms to strengthen technology-driven education across the country.
Finance Adviser Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury will propose the initiatives for the education sector in the FY2026–27 budget, set to be unveiled this afternoon (11 June) in parliament.
The initiatives are expected to aim at ensuring a technology- and artificial intelligence-based education system.
The budget speech is likely to outline plans to introduce the "One Teacher, One Tab" programme, establish multimedia classrooms, and expand free Wi-Fi access as part of broader efforts to modernise the education sector and improve digital learning opportunities for students.
The proposed measures are expected to come as the government places special emphasis on education, human resource development, and information technology to prepare students for an increasingly digital economy.
It is also likely to highlight plans to promote technology-based learning and equip students with skills needed for future workplaces, where digital literacy and familiarity with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence are expected to play a growing role.
However, the budget is not expected to immediately specify the proposed allocation for implementing the initiatives or provide details on the number of teachers and educational institutions expected to be covered under the programme.
