Bangladesh is looking for an alternative importing to China for garlic to prevent market from being affected by the outbreak of coronavirus, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said today.

He attended the 7th International Fire, Safety & Security Expo 2020 as a chief guest at the capital's Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).

Garlic is one of the everyday commodities that is imported from China despite local harvest and is feared to experience price hike in the kitchen market.

According to the data from Trading Corporation of Bangladesh, the imported garlic prices shot up recently, though locally grown garlic prices remained unchanged.
