219 countries and territories around the world have reported a total of 110,074,586 confirmed cases of Covid-19, that originated from Wuhan province in China. As of now, the global death toll is 2,430,907, according to Worldometer data.
Here is a list of top 10 countries with highest Covid-19 deaths:
US
The US is in the top position with 487,927 deaths as of now. The country stands at the apex position both in terms of highest cases (27,753,824) and highest numbers of death.
Brazil
Brazil is one of those countries where the second of Covid-19 has taken a deadly turn.
As of now, the country has gained the second position in terms of having the highest death toll with 240,940 deaths. In mid-January 2021, Brazil has approved emergency use of two Covid-19 vaccines from China's Sinovac and Britain's AstraZeneca to curb the infection rate.
Mexico
Mexico has started to vaccinate its elderly citizens from February 16, in an attempt to begin the immunisation process as the country stands third with 175,986 deaths in the global death toll of Covid-19.
India
India is the only South Asian country on the list who is battling a dire Covid-19 situation with 155,913 deaths until now. The country is still breaking records in daily new cases despite rolling out the biggest vaccination programme in the world with Covishield and Covaxin vaccines.
United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is ravaged by the new variant of Covid-19 with the fourth highest number of cases in the world. England is currently under the third national lockdown since the outbreak of the pandemic and standing fifth in the number of death tolls with 118,421 deaths.
Italy
The once devastated nation with the highest death toll for a while due to coronavirus, Italy has resuscitated its position and now stands in the sixth position with 94,171 deaths. Citizens of Italy are hoping to get their better days back as their new government has recently sworn in and already have started taking strict initiatives regarding Covid-19 rules and regulations.
France
France has the seventh-biggest Covid-19 death toll in the world and strictly maintains its current 6 pm-6 am curfew as the country is also scuffling with one of the top death tolls with 82,961 deaths.
Russia
Russia became the first country in August 2020 to approve a coronavirus vaccine and started distributing shots in early December. The country now has 79,659 deaths as of now.
Spain
Spain has some couple of thousands of fewer cases than France having seventh highest cases and 65,979 deaths as of now standing in the ninth position.
Germany
Germany, the country which performed extraordinarily well at the beginning of the battle with Covid-19, has been struggling to curb the growing infection rate. The country has now 66,198 deaths as of now.
