The country's electronics and technology giant Walton has been recognised as a superbrand.

London-based multinational company Superbrands has awarded Walton the "super brand" of the year 2020 and 2021, said a press release.

The names of the country's superbrands were announced in a gorgeous virtual ceremony on Thursday. Special publications of superbrands for the next two years have also been unveiled through the event.

Private industry and investment adviser to the prime minister, Salman Fazlur Rahman was the chief guest on the occasion.

Superbrands is the judge body of brands all over the world. Since 1994, the company has been working on branding in 90 countries around the world. As a result, superbrands have become a symbol of the greatest success for domestic and foreign brands. The Superbrands publication reveals the story behind each brand's development as a superbrand, the press release added.

The "brand council", composed of a panel of judges with different and distinct backgrounds and volunteer experts, has selected Bangladesh's 2020-2021 superbrands.

This year's list of super brand businesses includes 40 companies from a variety of sectors, including construction, consumer goods manufacturing and marketing, energy, pharmaceuticals, insurance, technology, electronics, vehicle manufacturing, non-bank financial institutions and the media.

Earlier, Bangladesh Brand Forum General Manager and Executive Editor Sajid Mahbub handed over the trophy and certificate to Walton on behalf of Superbrand.  Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited Managing Director Engineer Golam Murshed received the trophy and certificate from him.

At that time Golam Murshed said: "Walton is now a superbrand. Earlier, Walton received the Best Brand Award for the sixth time last year. Numerous domestic and international awards, honors and recognitions are regularly received. Walton's achievement is due to the trust, love and support of countless buyers and well-wishers of the country. This time we are running towards the goal of world victory with the help of Walton's general investors, buyers and well-wishers. We believe Walton will be one of the top 5 brands in the world by 2030."
