HC approves merging of Lafarge and Holcim Cement
Lafarge Holcim received the certified copy in this regard from the High Court on November 21
The High Court has given permission for merging Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh Limited its subsidiary company Holcim Cement Bangladesh Limited.
Lafarge Holcim received the certified copy in this regard from the High Court on November 21. According to the directives of the High Court, the verdict was submitted to Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms.
After getting permission from the Bangladesh Bank, Lafarge Surma Cement bought all the shares of Holcim Bangladesh worth around Tk505. Earlier, Lafarge Surma Cement shareholders agreed to the plan for merging with Holcim Bangladesh by buying 100 percent asset of Holcim Bangladesh at more than Tk900 crore.
Lafarge Surma has changed its name to Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh Limited ahead of the procurement after the international headquarters of the two companies merged.
In April, 2014, Lafarge and Holcim declared the merging globally. After that, in July, 2015, Lafarge Holcim started its journey as one of the largest cement companies in the world. Gradually, the business of the two groups became together.
