Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has instructed the party activists not to hold any programme outdoor and carry out all activities in a limited manner in compliance with health rules.

Quader said this at a press briefing at his government residence on Tuesday morning, reports Prothom Alo.

The road transport and bridges minister also called upon all offices and factories except emergency services to run their work with half the manpower as a current measure to rein in the raging coronavirus infection in the country.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining good hygiene and restricting public gatherings even in various places of worship.

The highest number of Covid-19 patients was identified in the last 24 hours in the country. A total of 5,181 new cases were registered.

Quader added that the responsibility of the party's organisational secretary will be redistributed to the divisional level as per the instructions of Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan has been appointed as the new organising secretary for Chattogram Division, Ahmed Hossain for Sylhet Division and Sakhawat Hossain Shafiq for Rangpur Division.
