BB appoints Executive Director Sarwar Hossain as deputy governor

The government has appointed Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Mohammad Sarwar Hossain as a deputy governor of the central bank for a three-year term, according to a notification issued by the Financial Institutions Division today (30 June).
The appointment was made under Article 10(4) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972.
According to the notification, Sarwar will assume the post after voluntarily resigning from his current position as executive director of Bangladesh Bank. He will serve as deputy governor for three years from the date he joins the office.
The notification further states that the remaining terms and conditions of his appointment will be determined through a separate contract. The order takes immediate effect.
