Khulshi Mart, the largest superstore in Chattogram, has initiated a charity effort to help underprivileged people on the occasion of its 15th founding ceremony.
Marking the founding ceremony, the authorities of this super chain store launched a 10-day-long Sales Festival and offered discounts on its wide array of products to customers.
But the change is that the discounted price which customers will avail through their purchases, will be donated to distressed people.
The Sales Festival started on Thursday and will continue till 20 February. Jaago Foundation, Bidyanondo Foundation and Al Manahil Welfare Foundation Bangladesh have joined this initiative so that customers can make their donations to them.
Here, customers will have the freedom to choose any of these humanitarian organisations to which they want to donate the discounted prices availed through purchases.
Commenting on the launch of the event, Engineer Mohammad Ali, chairman of Khulshi Mart, said, "We have introduced this humanitarian initiative in partnership with three welfare foundations who dedicate themselves for the welfare of underprivileged people. We will also extend our hands to these organisations in future."
"We arrange the Sales Festival in every founding ceremony and offer discounts to customers. But for our corporate social responsibility, we planned something different this year, which led to introducing this humanitarian effort," said Gulshan Ara Begum, managing director of Khulshi Mart.
"The organisations which will get the funding through this initiative, were the forerunners for helping the distressed humanity during the Covid-19 pandemic," she added.
"Through this effort, thousands of distressed families will get direct financial assistance," she continued.
During the ongoing Sales Festival, the Khulshi Mart is offering a 5% discount on purchase of products worth Tk2 thousand or more.
Representatives of the concerned humanitarian foundations directly collect the donated money by customers.
